Lake City Goods is for the adventurer, explorer, and wanderer. Someone who enjoys wandering with good friends, seeks great adventures, and lives life to its fullest potential.
Tell me a little bit about yourself
I was born and raised in Sudbury and love everything this city offers. I've always enjoyed trying new things and attempting to create and be a part of projects in the community. I'm currently a student at Laurentian, but hope to focus more on Lake City Goods in the upcoming years.
What made you decide to start this business?
I've always been one for the outdoors and really enjoy apparel that comes from nature influenced brands. Sudbury didn't have a clothing brand that represents its outdoor character, and thought it would be a good fit for the city and the people who reside here.
What are you most excited about for this business?
I'm excited to continue to create new products and expand my brand as a local business. The support in this city for small business owners is always extremely positive, and it really allows for a business such as Lake City Goods to continue to create.
What motivates you?
The fact of being able to be as creative as possible with the brand, and having no boundaries really motivates me to continue to create more products and attempt to expand. The support I also get from customers and the community helps me stay motivated in trying to continually release items that will make people happy and excited.
Do you have a role model?
Locally I've looked up to many members from We Live Up Here. They have become good friends that have helped me push myself creatively and believe in what I'm doing, even when things don't turn out the way I'd like. But as a child, like every Canadian, Terry Fox has always been someone to look up to. He has always given me inspiration to dream big and to put time and energy in things I truly believe in.
What is next for Lake City Goods?
We're hoping to continue to release new items throughout each season and expand our name as a brand, but we definitely want to stay local and keep Sudbury's influence in every product. We are hoping for more variety in the upcoming year with focus on many new and different items.
If you had a super power what would it be and why?
I don't know if it's considered a super power, but not having to sleep would be pretty darn cool. Just think about how many things could be done in a day.
Words of advice?
Never give up in something you love and believe in. It may be an over used line, but there is no better feeling than doing something you enjoy and attempting to continuously progress as an individual.
If you have not yet checked them out, be sure to head over to Lake City Goods and pick up one of their newest Fireside Fleeces.
