Have you ever done something so out of your comfort zone? Sudbury in a Box is the biggest one for me. I have always wanted to have my own business, be my own boss, make all the decisions and answer all the questions. Well truth is, it’s not as glamorous as you would think. It’s overwhelming, exciting, nerve-wracking and sometimes doubtful – but very much worth it!
Sudbury in a Box is happening quicker then what I had anticipated. Don’t get me wrong - I am so excited for this new venture but it’s still nerve racking. This business idea had stumbled on me when I signed up for my first subscription box. The day it came in the mail I was so excited to see what the box was filled with. Keep in mind I ordered this from the states – therefore majority of the items that this box contained were based out of the U.S. Not anything negative on their end, I am sure Americans love subscribing to this box but as for Canadian’s there’s not a lot we can do with it. That got me thinking and I started looking for Canadian subscription boxes. Turns out there really aren’t that many! This is when I came across those cities throughout the country making their own boxes from local products and services, what a great idea! Still there was something about the boxes that wasn’t close enough to my heart to make me want to purchase. That’s when Sudbury in a Box popped into my head!
I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. Grew up in the city where we have the symbolic big nickel, smoke stacks and a giant water tower. Where it’s normal to have rocks surround and built into the cities buildings. To me, it has always been home. I eventually moved away for school and soon after moved across the country to better my career development as a young professional. I have had many experiences in the little time I have been away from home. My first ever “big-girl career job” was doing outside sales. I was fortunate enough to experience and develop sales skills. The best part about this job was working with local businesses. I was a marketing manager who uniquely worked in promoting the company’s products to local businesses owners. The best part about working with these businesses was hearing the stories about how they got started. There was so much passion and love put into these businesses and each one was unique, no businesses were ever the same.
This is where it all comes together. Sudbury is home and it always will be. There are so many great local business owners and entrepreneurs that need support from the community. They are all so unique and exceptional in their own way. At Sudbury in a Box, we want to continue this momentum by encouraging a shop local mentality. The mission is to create luxury gift boxes with products and services made close to home that deliver character, quality and choices. We need Sudburians like you to please become a community-minded, quality focused shopper and support the local business owners and entrepreneurs. This new venture of mine is getting started so stay tuned for exciting updates and soon enough, our luxury local gift boxes!
Thank you for the continued support and excited to see what the future holds.
